CityX - Ich, Ostfildern

Art Project 2019/20

„Ich – Ostfildern“ called upon all inhabitants irrespective of age, origin and status to – literally – visualize/get a picture of their homeplace. At the same time, collaborative drawing opened up spaces for encounters and exchange. The result in the form of approx. 1000 spontaneous individual drawings was then viewed, ordered and analyzed by the artist Doris Graf. Similar to how people drew, she translated the collection of drawings into graphic motifs reminiscent of pictograms, which compactly reflect the citizens’ view of their city Ostfildern. Both the individual drawings and the condensed pictograms were presented during the exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Ostfildern. Thus, it provides a forum for visitors to reengage in a dialogue with their environment. The participatory project aims at a broad representation of society and participation in reflection processes.
