CityX - Ich, Krumbach
Art Project 2019/20
“CityX - „Ich, Krumbach“ called upon all inhabitants irrespective of age, origin and status to – literally – visualize/get a picture of their homeplace. At the same time, collaborative drawing opened up spaces for encounters and exchange. The result in the form of approx. 350 spontaneous individual drawings was then viewed, ordered and analyzed by the artist Doris Graf. Similar to how people drew, she translated the collection of drawings into graphic motifs reminiscent of pictograms, which compactly reflect the citizens’ view of their city Krumbach. Both the individual drawings and the condensed pictograms were presented during the exhibition at the Heimatmuseum Krumbach. In the room for special exhibitions, the CityX results from the city of Krumbach were juxtaposed with works from the two Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Pictograms
According to a so-called artistic appropriation process, Doris Graf used the drawings produced in Krumbach to develop an image of the city in the form of pictographic visualisations.
